HOMEMdeFERRO is a International Long Course Triathlon raced over the half-ironman distance (1,9Km + 90Km + 21,1Km). The race will be held for the seventh time in Portugal this time in Abrantes, just North of Lisbon. Come on, join us for this great event and race the best portuguese athletes in a unique venue.
HOMEMdeFERRO is back! For the seventh time in a row, the event will be held in Portugal but this time in Abrantes and over the HALF-IRONMAN distance. After two demanding winners last year - Pedro Gomes and Charllote Kolters dominated from tape to tape - we hope to bring another great race in 2008.
This' a open international triathlon and any interested person may take part of this race (portuguese or not). To register for this race you should fill up the online form or print the doc file and send it to us by fax or e-mail. After you fill the form/doc, you should proceed with the money transfer and send us a confirmation ticket thru e-mail or fax.

Abrantes is located just one hour North of capital city Lisbon right on the center of Portugal. A-23 freeway connects Abrantes directly to Spain thru Salamanca and Valladolid. From Lisbon you should take A-1 freeway heading to North/Oporto and take A-23 when the time comes.
Every finisher athlete will have a few gifts from our sponsors as well as the finisher t-shirt. We will also award the top five male and women overall with a throphy along the following prize money:

Pedro Gomes and Cláudia Martins renew their titles!
Charlotte Kolters (Den) won the overall female race
Pedro Gomes and Claudia Martins, both representing Oeiras Sport Club, are the 2007 Long Distance National Champs. Pedro Gomes had a tape to tape win with both the fastest swim and bike to win the overall competition in 3h56m50s. Sergio Marques would beat Sergio Dias to the line for second place in 4h08m11s and 4h08m37s, in that order.
Charlotte Kolters, Danish and current European Champ over the distance, had a similar tape to tape win, with the fastest splits of the day to take it home in 4h29m47s. The 2006 champion, Claudia Martins, would eventually finish in second place with the time of 5h05m14s and took the Portuguese Title over Susana Simões and Carla Mendes.
HISTORY
HOMEM de FERRO was held for the first time in August 17th, 2002, in Penha Garcia. The innaugural edition was raced under the full ironman distances (3,8K, 180K, 42,2K). Ricardo Costa, from Portugal was the first winner of the event in 8h54m36s. Full results for the first editions:
